Julia Louis-Dreyfus has mentioned that her experience on SNL wasn’t the greatest time, and this weekend she delved a bit deeper. During a conversation with Stephen Colbert, Louis-Dreyfus started by giving accolades to the “incredibly funny” people on the show, but then spoke more about the negative climate. “It was very sexist, very sexist. People were doing crazy drugs at the time.”

She went on to discuss how she was young and naïve at the time, saying she was “oblivious” to the drug use going on around her. “I just though, oh wow, he’s got a lot of energy.” Despite the bad parts, she ended on a positive note: “I learned I wasn’t going to do anymore of this show-business crap unless it was fun… I just thought I don’t have to do this anymore. I don’t have to crawl through nasty glass if it’s not going to be fulfilling.”
